Authoring Content to ASD S1000D Schema's Training Course

Overview

This is a hands on workshop for authoring to v3.0 of the S1000D specification. Several modules on S1000D theory is covered to ensure understanding of the fundamentals behind the specification that the author will be working with. Chapters 4 to 7 break out into authoring exercises. It is expected that the student will have their preferred Authoring Tool to perform these hands-on authoring exercises. This course has been designed by ADG’s S1000D trainers.  On completion of this course students will understand the fundamentals of S1000D in a project environment and will be comfortable with authoring core components of the Descriptive and Procedural Data Modules.

Pre-requisite

• Experience in working in a Structured Authoring environment.
• Will have core understanding of XML, including elements and attributes
• Students will require access to a computer with their preferred XML Authoring tool installed.
• Students will have downloaded and installed the v3.0 Schema's and sample documents from the S1000D.org website

 

S1000D Training - Authoring Start Point Course

Overview

This is a single module covering one of the theory topics of v3.0 of the S1000D specification. The Authoring Start Point module is covered to ensure understanding of the fundamentals behind the specification that the author will be working with, including:

• Business Rules
• Rules for Authoring S1000D
• Data Modules and Publication Modules

 

S1000D Authoring Training - Introduction to Data Modules Course

Overview

This is a single module covering one of the theory topics of v3.0 of the S1000D specification. Introduction to Data Modules is covered to ensure understanding of the fundamentals behind the specification that the author will be working with, including:

• Mandatory, Optional and Conditional Element Types
• SGML and XML - What are the differences?
• Data Module Identification and Status and Content Sections

 

S1000D Authoring Training - Identify Available Information Sets Course

Overview

This is a single module covering one of the theory topics of v3.0 of the S1000D specification. This Information Set module is covered to ensure understanding of the fundamentals behind the specification that the author will be working with, including:

• What is an Information Set?
• Types of Information Sets

 

S1000D - Author the Identification & Status Sect Training Course

This module has been made available as a free trial to demonstrate the hands-on exercises included in ADG's Authoring Content to ASD S1000D Schema's. Items covered in this module are, authoring the:

• Identification Section
• Data Module Address
• Status Section

Please note:  The 'Author the Identification & Status Sect Training' module does have instructional steps for you to complete in an S1000D Authoring Tool.  Therefore, you should have your preferred Authoring package open ready for you to complete these steps. S1000D VIRTUAL Training - Authoring content to ASD S1000D v3 Schema's

Overview

Introduction to Data Modules is covered over  3 x 2 hour Instructor-led sessions, to ensure understanding of the fundamentals behind the  S1000D specification.  This comprehensive course will assist authors with:

• Mandatory, Optional and Conditional Element Types
• SGML and XML - What are the differences?
• Data Module Identification and Status and Content Sections

An online workbook is provided free of charge with this course, however if you would prefer a printed workbook, this can be mailed to you for an additional cost. Please Note:  The 'Virtual' S1000D Authoring Content to ASD S1000D v3 Schema's sessions do have instructional steps for you to complete a Data Module using a Structured Authoring Tool. Printed Workbook for VIRTUAL 2 x 2 hour session

This printed workbook is available for students participating in Virtual 2 x 2 hour Instructor-led sessions.  These sessions include:

• Authoring Structured S1000D Data Modules
